1951 | UIBE was founded as the Senior Business School for Business Leaders under the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation and the Ministry of Education in China. |
1954 | UIBE was renamed as Beijing Foreign Trade Institute and the first group of international students enrolled. |
1960 | UIBE was designated as a key university by the Chinese government for its outstanding academic programs. |
1984 | UIBE was renamed as the University of International Business and Economics. |
1989 | UIBE became the first university in China to have a Board of Trustees. |
1997 | UIBE was added into the list of "Project 211" universities, a governmental program that aims at turning 100 Chinese universities into high-quality academic institutions in the 21st century. |
2000 | UIBE merged with the China Institute of Finance and Banking and became one of the universities under direct leadership of the Ministry of Education. |
2010 | UIBE announced the establishment of its Education Foundation through which it accepts donations. |
2010 | The Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Education signed an agreement to jointly support UIBE. |
