Lecture on Discovering China held at University of Texas
On April 13, "My Impression of China", one of the 2016 series lectures on "Discovering China" was held in the Confucius Institute at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Dr. Page Smith, Dean of the School of Education and Personnel Training of Postgraduates, was invited to deliver the speech, with Principal Professor Yao Wanxiang as the host of the event, which saw nearly 200 people in attendance.
Dr. Smith told his stories of when in 2008 he came to China for the first time. By recounting the experiences of barely knowing China to fully understanding, Dr. Page Smith introduced the social political system and folk customs from the perspective as an American. In addition, he praised China for its efficient management, growing economy and traditional virtues like diligence, modesty and hospitality.
During the lecture that lasted for one hour and a half, Dr. Smith stimulated audiences' interest with his personal amusing stories. In the end, he encouraged students to visit China and said that: "There are a lot of places worth exploring!"
