Presentation of London Business School held at UIBE
2016-05-18 04:52:00

The presentation of the London Business School (LBS) was held on May 17 in the 118 meeting room of Chengxin Building at UIBE. Natalia Mank, who is in charge of Asian students' enrollment at the London Business School communicated with UIBE students on topics of further education and employment.

LBS is established in 1964 at the center of London and close to Royal Park Regent's Park. As a world-class business school, the LBS is recognized as the most outstanding business school in Europe. By 2011, LBS had been ranked the top business schools along with Wharton School for three consecutive years by the Financial Times. In 2012, the LBS was in ranked fourth. However, undergraduate courses are unavailable at the LBS, since it only provides post-graduate courses on finance and management.

Natalia Mank explained why the LBS is an ideal choice for UIBE students from five aspects: the reputation of the LBS, excellent faculties, ranking position, location and its strategy for global development. She referred to several figures to demonstrate the international characteristics of LBS—154 colleges operated in over 30 countries, over 40,000 alumni coming from more than 150 countries, 102 alumni organizations around the world and over 50 recipient countries employment expansion. Fudan University participates in certain cooperative programs with the LBS. Natalia Mank remarked that LBS uniqueness lies in that it not only enables you to have a self-supportive job but also offers a genuine education and life-long career guidance.

Natalia Mank detailed the three courses—Master in Management (MiM), Global Master in Management (GMiM) and Master of Finance and Accounting (MFA) by enumerating all curricula and explaining the difference among them. All three courses are going to begin in September. The MiM and MFA programs last for one year while GMiM requires two years—the first year is in London and second year is in Shanghai.

When it came to career planning, Natalia offered her personal perceptions. She said that corporate culture is as important as salary for students in applying for a job. She also stated that it is anything but easy to find a job in London but even if students fail to have a job in London and choose to come back to China, the above-mentioned advice still applies. The LBS will better equip its students by providing guidance on planning future, tapping potential and analyzing employment market.

In the questions and answers section, students asked many questions on the requirements for enrolling, to which, Natalia responded that students who apply for LBS should at least have GPA of at least 3.5, IELTS 7.5, TOEFL 110 and GMAT 700. Also the application letter is of particular importance since the LBS is strict on each part.
