2019-05-09 09:37:00

The University of Malawi's (UNIMA) Council Chairperson, Billy Gama, led a higher education delegation of 12 people to visit the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) on May 8. Jiang Qingzhe, party chief of the UIBE, met with the delegation and welcomed them to the university.

Jiang recalled last year when Peter Mutharika, president of Malawi, visited the UIBE and was awarded an honorary professorship with the university. Jiang then acknowledged the fruits of cooperation between the UIBE and the UNIMA. He made special reference to the development of the Confucius Institute at the University of Malawi, a project that was jointly launched by the two universities. Jiang also said he expects that both sides will continue to forge deeper and broader cooperation.

Billy Gama pointed out that the friendship between Malawi and China is deep and profound. Through this visit, he said he aims to deepen the cooperation among universities from both countries and work with the UIBE to create exchange programs for students and teachers, as well as undertake joint research.

After the meeting, the delegation had a meeting with Malawian students in the UIBE to learn more about their studies and life here.
