UIBE Open Economy Research Center established in Xiamen

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council issued Several Opinions on Building the New Mechanism of Open Economy, proposing target tasks and major initiatives in the new period of building new mechanisms, including general requirements, innovating foreign investment management systems, building new systems of promoting the "going-out" strategy, structuring the sustainable development mechanisms of foreign trade, optimizing the regional layout of opening-up, accelerating the "one belt, one road" strategy, expanding the new space for international economic cooperation, establishing an open and safe financial mechanism, creating stable, fair, transparent and predictable business environment, strengthening the support for safeguard mechanisms, improving the safety guarantee systems of an open economy, among other areas.

To implement the strategic requirements of the Central Committee to accelerate building the new mechanism of an open economy, UIBE decided to step up the pace to launch on March 19 the Open-Economy Research Center at Yunchuangzhigu in Xiamen.

Li Anyu, the deputy of UIBE Shenzhen Research Institute, extended his congratulations to those involved in establishing the Center and gave his regards to our Fujian alumni. He said, the Center would provide senior think-tank consulting for the development of the economic zone on the west coast of the Straits and offer training on economics and trade to enterprises, by making use of UIBE's disciplinary advantages in international trade, international finance, custom, insurance, modern logistics, and among other areas.

The Center has caught great attention form Xiamen municipal government. Many local leaders, officers and alumni attended the meeting, which was chaired by Li Fei, our alumni of 1994. These attendees had a heated discussion about the development of the Center.

The Center will promote the scientific research cooperation with Xiamen Free Trade Area, carry out the task of providing on-the-job graduate education for custom and finance majors, and plan to launch service trade workshops and conduct open economy seminars in Xiamen.
