UIBE hosts seminar on customs administration for African countries

UIBE successfully hosted the Seminar on Customs Administration for African Countries, a national foreign aid training program sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce. The seminar lasted for 21 days and 24 customs officers from Ghana, Egypt, Malawi, Ethiopia, Tanzania, South Sudan attended the seminar.

On the morning of April 7, the opening ceremony was held at UIBE. Zhao Zhongxiu, Vice-President of UIBE, Wang Donghong, Deputy Director of the General Administration of Customs Training Center, Zeng Gang, Dean of the School of Continuing Education, attended the ceremony hosted by Xia Haiquan, Faculty Board Director of School of Continuing Education. Zhao Zhongxiu made the opening remarks. He introduced the development of UIBE, its academic strengths, the characteristics of its international education and spoke highly of the deep friendship between China and various African countries. Wang Donghong praised high quality of UIBE’s national foreign aid training program, hoped that the customs officers from African countries would have a better understanding of China's current customs administration situation and future development. On behalf of 24 African customs officers, Alfhard from Egypt sincerely thanked UIBE's warm and thoughtful reception and placed high hopes on the seminar.

Under the support of General Administration of Customs, School of Continuing Education, integrating school’s and social advantageous resources and focusing on "customs administration", made careful arrangements for the seminar, including visiting National Customs Information Center, China Customs Museum, Dapeng Customs and Yantian Port in Shenzhen.

On April 13, the seminar visited National Customs Information Center and China Customs Museum. Yu Zhenjing, deputy director of National Customs Information Center, had an in-depth exchange with seminar officers on customs information construction. Seminar officers also learned the development history and current situation of China customs.

On April 15, officers had a field trip to Dapeng Customs and Yantian Port in Shenzhen. Staff members there introduced the basic overview of Shenzhen Customs, showed officers around Dapeng Port risk monitoring center and answered questions raised by officers. Afterwards, staff members accompanied officers to one of the four international ports of transshipment in China's coastal area, Yantian Port and Yantian International Container Building. Officers said the trip left an indelible impression on them and helped to drive the in-depth cooperation and development among national customs.

In order for officers to know more about China's development, UIBE also arranged them to visit the Hytera Communications Co., Ltd., Golden Net International Education Group and Zhuhai Hengqin FTA.

The closing ceremony of Seminar on Customs Administration for African Countries was held at UIBE on April 27. Zeng Gang, Dean of the School of Continuing Education, hosted the ceremony. Zhao Zhongxiu, Vice-President of UIBE, Chen Lifen, Training Director of the General Administration of Customs Training Center and Ms Gao Li attended the ceremony. The success of seminar has not only been recognized by the Ministry of Commerce, but also been highly praised by seminar members. School of Continuing Education will continue to optimize the construction of a high-quality staff and curriculum, improve training level and quality, further enhance the international influence of UIBE by training international business officers.
