2018-02-03 09:00:00

A delegation led by UIBE vice-president Zhao Zhongxiu visited universities in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand at the invitation of the hosts from Jan 24 to Feb 2.

The visit has generated positive fruits in promoting international education cooperation, contributed to the construction of the China-ASEAN university alliance specializing in business and economics, and enhanced the university’s international influence and competitiveness, said the UIBE.

During the delegation’s visits to the Singapore Management University and Singapore University of Technology and Design from Jan 24 to 25, a central topic was how to jointly build the Belt and Road business school, promote student exchanges and short-term exchange projects, under the framework of China-ASEAN university alliance specializing in business and economics.

While meeting with the UIBE’s alumni in Singapore on Jan 25, Zhao said the university faces historical opportunities brought about by China’s development and opening-up, and he hopes the alumni can contribute to economic and cultural exchanges between China and Singapore.

At a round-table meeting of representatives of all public universities of Malaysia on Jan 26, which the UIBE delegation also attended, representatives said they are willing to participate into the aforementioned alliance. The UIBE delegation visited the University of Malaya and Universiti Putra Malaysia later, to discuss in detail the construction of Belt and Road business school. The two Malaysian universities plan to visit the UIBE later in the first half of this year.

The delegation visited the Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University, Chulalongkorn University and Mahidol University from Jan 30 to Jan 31.

The universities hope to carry out cooperation projects in the framework of the alliance as early as possible. The delegation paid visits to the United Chinese School Committees’ Association of Malaysia, and the Thai-China International Education Alliance from Jan 29 to 30, introducing the UIBE’s program for international students and seeking to cooperate with middle schools in Malaysia and Thailand to attract local high school graduates to study at UIBE.

Zhao told local media in Thailand on Jan 30 that the UIBE is willing to cooperate with prestigious universities of the ASEAN members to enhance the international education cooperation level and initiate pragmatic cooperation in talents and academic research between the two sides.

Zhao also introduced the UIBE’s characteristics, latest developments and commitments to providing intellectual and talent support for the construction of the China-ASEAN community of shared future. (Li Yang)
