President Wang Jiaqiong of the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) met with Anna Joubin-Bret, secretary of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), in Beijing on March 1, 2018.

This is the first time that Ms. Joubin-Bret has visited China since she took on her functions as the new secretary for UNCITRAL. The UIBE is the only university where she visited and gave lectures.

President Wang introduced his school’s international approach to teaching and its traditional strengths in international economic and trade law.

Secretary Joubin-Bret said she was impressed with UIBE’s performance in the field of international economic and trade law. She also mentioned UNCITRAL’s priorities (including the reform of the ISDS mechanism) in the next stage and hoped the two sides could have more academic contacts and cooperation.
