President Wang of UIBE meets Nixon’s grandson

President Wang Jiaqiong of the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) met with Christopher Nixon Cox - the grandson of former US President Richard Nixon at the campus in Beijing on April 13, 2018.

 

Wang said President Nixon has left a profound influence on the Chinese people for the first time a U.S. president had crossed the Pacific Ocean to shake hands with Chinese. Nixon's arrival in Beijing had shown that the two countries can resolve their differences through dialogue rather than other means.

In 1985, President Nixon visited the UIBE, where delivered a keynote speech on international trade.

 

As one of the top international universities in China, the UIBE has played an important role in enhancing cultural exchanges between the youth of the two countries.

Mr. Cox graduated from Princeton University and holds a position there of organizing international exchanges for Princeton students. He said college student exchange between countries is one of the important missions for a university.
