UIBE and Chengdu's Tianfu New Area sign agreement to build Chengdu Institute

The University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) signed a cooperation agreement with Chengdu's Tianfu New Area on June 11 to jointly build the Chengdu Institute of UIBE.

The institute will set up research centers on the Belt and Road, pilot free trade zone, international logistics, as well as international business and trade. It will also provide Chengdu and Tianfu New Area with research consultancy on strategic decision making and planning services for the development of the pilot free trade zone as well as foreign trade and economic cooperation, etc. The institute will also have extensive cooperation with world-class universities, international organizations and multinational corporations. In addition, it will also work with Tianfu New Area to jointly create internships and build training bases for students, incubator parks for UIBE alumni, and actively promote the establishment of the China Europe University of Economics and Trade.

Luo Qiang, vice secretary of the CPC Chengdu Municipal Committee and mayor of Chengdu, said he hoped the two sides can strengthen their pragmatic and win-win cooperation in terms of talent exchanges, strategic consultation, free trade zone development, innovation as well as entrepreneurship. Luo also said that the Chengdu Municipal Government and Tianfu New Area will provide efficient government services and support for the Chengdu Institute.

Jiang Qingzhe, party chief of the UIBE, said that the UIBE is distinctively characterized by "internationalization," and Chengdu is an important city along the Belt and Road route. Given the strong alliance between both sides, he said he is confident in the UIBE's ability to build a first-class Chengdu Institute to serve Chengdu, which is one of the national principal cities in China that fully embodies a new vision of development.
