UIBE hosts BRICS think tank forum

The University of International Business and Economics organized a forum on BIRCS cooperation from May 6 to 7.

 

Themed “stronger BRICS partnership for new international development”, the 17th Wanshou Forum, hosted by the Chinese Council for BRICS Think Tank Cooperation, attracted more than 100 delegates from home and abroad, including South Africa, Russia, India and Brazil, to discuss new mechanisms and paths for BRICS cooperation and sustainable development of the world.

 

Wang Jiaqiong, president of UIBE, offered in his opening speech the university’s continued support for the construction of the BRICS think tanks and would like the university to makes its due contribution to promoting a new type of international cooperation.

Zhou Qiangwu, director of the international financial and economic center of the Ministry of Finance, said the emerging economies, with BRICS as representatives, should undertake more responsibilities to advance international development and cooperation, explore new cooperation models and paths, and construct a new type of mutually beneficial and win-win international environment.

Luan Jianzhang, director of the research office of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, pointed out in his keynote speech that the BRICS should advance South-South cooperation through their collaboration, and explore a new type of cooperation model through South-South cooperation.

Dolana Msimang, South Africa’s ambassador to China, pointed out in her keynote speech that the BRICS mechanism has developed one of the most important platforms for dialogue and cooperation among developing countries since it was founded 10 years ago, playing an important role in boosting South Africa’s economic development and effective engagement in global economic governance.
