A delegation led by Huang Baoyin, secretary of the CPC Committee of the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE), visited universities and colleges in Greece and the United Kingdom from June 5 to June 11, 2024, in a bid to explore deeper and broader cooperation with top universities in Europe.
On June 5, 2024, the UIBE delegation visited the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). Professor Huang met with NKUA vice-rector Sophia Papaioannou. They held extensive discussions on curriculum system development, doctoral guidance, research evaluation, and international cooperation. Both sides expressed their desire and willingness to strengthen their relations.


On June 6, 2024, the delegation went on a trip to COSCO Piraeus Port Authority S.A. (PPA). Its chief executive officer Su Xudong met the delegation and introduced the radiation effect and vision of the port as being an important intersection of the Maritime Silk Road and the overland Silk Road Economic Belt. Mr Huang echoed that Piraeus Port plays a leading and exemplary role in the Belt and Road Initiative. The UIBE delegation expressed a willingness to engage in substantial cooperation with the port.


From June 7 to June 8, 2024, the UIBE delegation visited the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), the Athens Business Confucius Institute in Athens (Athens BCI), and the Chinese Embassy in Greece. When meeting the UIBE delegation at the AUEB, rector Dimitrios Bourantonis said that the UIBE is an important partner of the AUEB in China, and hoped the two universities could engage in deeper cooperation in academic exchanges, joint and dual degree programs, and summer schools. At the Chinese Embassy in Greece, ambassador Xiao Junzheng expressed the embassy's support to closer cooperation between the UIBE and Greek universities.





On June 10, 2024, professor Huang and his delegation visited the Chinese Embassy in the United Kingdom and met with minister counsellor Bao Ling, head of the Economic and Commercial Section at the Embassy. Huang discussed the progress in cooperation with British universities, and sought guidance on further enhancing talent recruitment, faculty and student exchanges, joint research, and think tank collaboration.


Later in the day, the UIBE delegation visited the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Professor Huang held talks with rector Larry Kramer. Huang hoped that both sides could step up efforts in cooperation for new opportunities focusing on emerging topics in China's economic development, which was positively echoed by rector Kramer and the LSE counterparts.


On the last day, the UIBE delegation made a trip to the Blavatnik School of Government of the University of Oxford.


The UIBE delegation also included Ms Huang Wei, dean of the Graduate School, Mr Xing Xiaoqiang, director of the Department of Scientific Research, Mr Zhang Haisen, vice dean of the School of International Development and Cooperation, Mr Xu Lei, deputy director of the Department of Teaching, and Ms. Hu Meiyong, director of the Student Exchange Center under the Department of International Relations.
