The UIBE delegation visits the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Switzerland, January 16, 2017.

A UIBE delegation led by Party Chief Jiang Qingzhe visited world organizations, and international research institutes in Switzerland, Germany and Austria to seek opportunities for collaborative research and student internship programs from January 16 to January 21, 2017.

The delegation was invited by the World Trade Organization (WTO), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD) and the Fraunhofer Institute.

Yi Xiaozhun, deputy director general of the WTO, met the delegation on Jan. 16. The two sides discussed the multilateral trading system and the opportunities and challenges faced by China in the field of international trade. They also exchanged views on the development of UIBE's characteristic disciplines, WTO research and the internship programs for high-level talents in the future.

The UIBE delegation visits the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD)  in Switzerland, January 16, 2017.

The delegation met Prof. Andrew Crosby, the Managing Director of ICTSD and Dr. Shuaihua Wallace Cheng, the Managing Director of ICTSD China on the same day. Both sides pledged to take the opportunity of President Xi Jinping's state visit to Switzerland to work on expanding the depth and width in collaborative research in the field of international trade, global value chains and Sino-Switzerland free trade zones.

On Jan. 17, the delegation met Dr.Caspar Einem, Vice President of the European Forum Alpbach. They agreed on UIBE students' participation in the programs for visiting scholars under the framework of the forum.

On Jan. 19, the delegation met UNIDO Director General Li Yong to seek cooperation between the UIBE Research Institute for Global Value Chains and the UNIDO in collaborative research. They also discussed world development in the context of industrialization.

On Jan. 20, the delegation made a visit to the Fraunhofer Institute in Germany and held talks with President Weshpohn. They hoped to expand cooperation in the Beijing Humboldt Forum, new energy policy research and the low-carbon economy.

The delegation also visited China's Permanent Mission to the WTO, Chinese embassies in Austria and Germany, the Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg, the University of Vienna, the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria and the European Forum Alpbach.

Members of the delegation include Wang Qiang, UIBE Scientific Research Department Director, Tu Xinquan, Director of the China Institute for WTO Studies, Wu Yabin, Executive Director of UIBE Research Institute for Global Value Chains, Vice Director of the School of International Studies and Li Xiaomeng, Vice Director of UIBE Department of International Relations.
