2015-09-27 10:55:00

At the dawn of Mid-Autumn Festival, the Brazil FAAP Confucius Institute held a series of activities including eating moon cakes, tasting Pu'er tea, celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival, which aimed to provide better experience of Chinese culture for Brazilian students.

The students not only tasted various flavors of moon cakes, but also tasted Pu'er tea. The Brazilians, who love sweets, were partial to moon cakes. The Dean of the Confucius Institute, Xiang Jie, said that, the teachers have introduced the history and customs of Mid-Autumn Festival to the students and made comparisons between Chinese and Brazilian festivals. Mid-Autumn Festival is the festival of reunion, as well as a harvest festival. In Brazil, there is a traditional festival known as Festa Junina, which is a grand festival for Brazilians to celebrate the corn harvest. Therefore, Brazilians can relate to China's Mid-Autumn Festival. A Japanese-Brazilian student also shared the customs and legends of Japan's Mid-Autumn Festival.

As Brazil is located in the southern hemisphere, teachers of Brazil FAAP Confucius Institute cannot share this moment with their families as the bright moon shines over the sea. However, a deep feeling for their motherland will arise within whenever they see the moon.
