Ms. Cecila Ugaz Estrada, director of Department of Policy Research and Statistics of United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), visited the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) in Beijing on September 4, 2018.
UIBE's vice president Zhao Zhongxiu met her and introduced his school's joint research programs, international students training and cooperation with international organizations.
A first-phase joint effort by UNIDO and UIBE on global value chains and international industrial capacity cooperation has proven a success with the report of Global Value Chains and Industrial Development: Lessons from China, South-East and South Asia released in Vienna in June 2018, Zhao said.
Ms. Ugaz Estrada expressed her appreciation to the efforts of all the staff for the initial achievements of the initiative. The two sides exchanged views on research topics, methodology, specific issues and schedule for the second phase. They also discussed UIBE courses for African students and the school's research achievements related to Africa.
