The Times Higher Education (THE) released its World University Rankings 2020 during the World Academic Summit held at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich on Sept. 12.
The 2020 rankings covered 1,396 universities in 92 countries and regions across the globe, among which, 81 were from the Chinese mainland. The University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) entered the list for the first time this year, ranking between 601st and 800th in the world, 35th in China and the first among all finance and economics universities in the country.
The Times Higher Education has been releasing its university rankings annually since 2004. The rankings measure the comprehensive power of universities with many indicators such as teaching, scientific research, commercialization of research findings and internationalization. The list is considered to be one of the most influential and authoritative university rankings in the world.
